A closer look at Food and Drink Stock Photos
Food and drink stock photos aren’t what they used to be! But then nothing is, is it?
These days everyone is a photographer! Digital has made photography easy hasn’t it? Well it’s certainly made it possible for someone that likes to blog about their cupcakes to suddenly become an authority on the subject of food photography and it’s created a vast ocean of stock photo sewage out there!
I still believe that a good image created by a professional photographer will sell well, and I see plenty of evidence that buyers out there appreciate quality, unique and perhaps iconic imagery whether it’s stock or not. Despite the vast ocean of mediocre and cheaper stuff that is floating around.
It's always a better investment to buy food and drink stock photos with a certain amount of exclusivity and guaranteed technical competence than buy an inferior image for maybe just a few dollars less!
It’s always a better investment to buy food and drink stock photos with a certain amount of exclusivity and guaranteed technical competence than buy an inferior image for maybe just a few dollars less! The cheaper image appearing almost everywhere and if you buy it too it’s then in direct competition with your very own use. I guess if your reading this you know a good food or drink stock image when you see one so I won’t labour the point.
Leading Photo Agency
I’m with the leading photo agency Getty Images who represent my work for Royalty Free and Rights Managed exclusive food and drink stock photos. From a buyer’s point of view you know you are still getting quality images for a very reasonable fee, plus you don’t have to search for hours trawling through the exact same stock images repeated and used everywhere!
I’ve been shooting food and drink stock photography for quite a few years now and i’m still often surprised where and how my images actually end up being used, thanks to the imagination of the creative folk out there! Quite often I will shoot say a bottle of wine, perhaps in a different way to the norm but thinking it may be used on a menu or something like that, only to find the image appearing as a greetings card or for a creative ad. somewhere. That to me is part of the reward for my efforts, it can be a real delight to see work popping up, especially in an unexpected way!
Thanks to those that have and continue to invest in my food and drink stock photos, I salute you!
